Aave V3.8 Security Proposal Preserves Flash-Loan Liquidations
Aave Labs has clarified its V3.8 security upgrade, which explicitly excludes flash-loan entry points to maintain flash-loan liquidation capabilities. The October 21 proposal introduces a Transaction-Length Lock mechanism leveraging Ethereum’s EIP-1153 transient storage to track protected operation states.
Under the new design, flashLoan() and flashLoanSimple() functions are excluded from the guard, enabling external callbacks to continue invoking Pool actions including liquidations. This preserves the transaction sequence required for multi-asset collateralized debt positions while adding a reentrancy safeguard.
Certora and additional reviewers are expected to assess the changes before final implementation. Governance approval and security audits remain pending for the proposal to proceed.
The clarification provides a concrete compatibility point for Ethereum and other affected networks, giving integrators a clear path to align their code with the updated protocol boundaries.
