Utexo Mint Opens for Early Testing
Utexo has opened early access to Utexo Mint, its platform designed for professional operators preparing to support Tether’s USDT directly on the Bitcoin network. The public launch is scheduled for November 28. This initiative allows exchanges, wallets, market makers, and other firms to begin integration and testing before the broader rollout.
Restoring Dollar Liquidity to Bitcoin
The return of USDT to Bitcoin – it initially launched on the network in 2014 – is intended to inject significant dollar liquidity into the Bitcoin ecosystem. Utexo believes this will unlock new opportunities for trading and BTC-backed lending. Operators who integrate early are positioned to capitalize on initial demand as adoption increases.
How Utexo Mint Works
Utexo Mint provides a sandbox environment for verified operators to test USDT functionality on Bitcoin via the RGB protocol. This includes minting, confidential transfers, and redemption processes. The platform also offers tools for managing USDT liquidity across networks and converting between fiat currencies and USDT. While not operated by Tether directly, the USDT on Bitcoin is backed by Tether through the USDT0 protocol.
Privacy and Compliance Features
USDT on Bitcoin, launched by Utexo, will be “private by design,” offering users confidential transactions that avoid address reuse – a privacy vulnerability. Utexo partners with Crystal Intelligence for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring of incoming USDT and risk assessment on the RGB side, balancing privacy with regulatory compliance. The rollout will occur in two phases: public availability on November 28, followed by integration with the Lightning Network in Q1 2027 for payments.
